I know I shut that door!

Twelve-year-old Sophie Madison has no idea what she’s in for when she moves from the big city of Calgary to Stratford, Ontario. She misses her friends, her apartment, and all her favorite places. Although her parents found a beautiful house with a bedroom she loves, none of them knew it was full of secrets and surprises. When a young girl keeps lurking in the back garden, she begins to suspect her new home is haunted.

“The Ghost in the Garden is a suspenseful page-turner filled with great characters, mystery, and a plot that keeps you hanging on until the end. It’s a hit for readers who love middle-grade ghost stories, small-town adventures, old houses, and brave young female protagonists. Alisse Lee Goldenberg’s story is both compelling and unsettling, with plenty of goosebumps. It’s about new beginnings, friendship, guilt, grief, and giving new places and people a chance. It shows how important it is to have someone to help you deal with your stress and who believes you, no matter what. Younger readers may not wish to read this young adult story alone at night.”

“Though I’m over twenty years older than Sophie, I found her plight totally relatable. We all struggle with change. Grief, loss, and friendship are universal experiences. The story’s message of giving a chance to new things is useful for young ones and adults alike. The endearing characters, quirky setting, and exciting mystery make The Ghost in the Garden a gem in YA’s literary panorama.” 4.8 out of 5 stars.
