Sabotage at Casa Grande Springs is an entertaining and engaging whodunnit that invites readers to join a unique team of detectives—three humans and one clever canine—as they unravel the mystery of suspicious occurrences at the caregiving facility where their beloved Opa resides.
Twins Briana and Brice, their friend Daniel, and Weaver the dog learn teamwork and face their fears as they search for clues, compile a list of suspects, and set traps for the suspected culprits! The detectives’ teamwork and bravery create a compelling dynamic that keeps readers engaged. Each character brings a distinct personality to the narrative, making them relatable and memorable. Weaver is a lovable and memorable character: funny, with truly canine interests and suspicions.
Most chapters end in a cliffhanger, and the cast of suspicious characters keeps the detectives and the reader wondering until the very last pages. Set against the backdrop of the Florida Everglades, the story includes a variety of wildlife, including alligators, cranes, herons, and a python. In addition to the excitement of the mystery, the book incorporates a strong multicultural message about the importance of treating the environment well and helping others.
Overall, Sabotage at Casa Grande Springs is a delightful, engaging read with lots of humor and intrigue. Weaver is fantastic!

Sabotage at Casa Grande Springs by DD Sterner has all the elements of a classic adventure book that keeps the reader in suspense until the final pages. The three main characters who call themselves the “PI Squad” (reminiscent of Jon Scieszka’s Time Warp Trio) and their trusty sidekick, Weaver the dog, are junior sleuths who are on a quest to find out who is behind the mysterious events that have been happening throughout their summer. From airboat rides, encounters with alligators, and the discovery of a strange map, the adventures of the PI Squad and Weaver create a tale of excitement and anticipation sure to please.

The author draws your curiosity into the plot by adding all the information about the situation at hand. As excitement builds, so do the inquisitive actions of the PI’s in this mystery.
Add in adventure and a family pet, the mystery is a fun read for anyone.

Sabotage at Casa Grande Springs has both adventure and mystery. I love the three main characters, who call themselves the “PI Squad”. My favorite character is the dog, Weaver. He adds so much fun to the story. DD Sterner added some facts at the end, about the Everglades that were very interesting. I did not want to put it down and could not wait to pick it up! I will purchase this book for my grandchildren and I cannot wait to read the next mystery in the series!

“Marvelous new Middle Grade Mystery Series”
Update the Bobbsey Twins and add a variation on Scooby Doo and DD Sterner has created an entertaining middle grade mystery that is sure to delight. Mom is managing the new Casa Grande Care Center where Grandpa is now a resident. Brice and Brianna, along with their best friend Daniel are volunteering for the summer and are bound and determined to figure out the reason behind all the recent accidents. Someone seems to be sabotaging the facility and the PI Squad set out to solve the mystery. What makes this story unique is their dog Weaver. The narration not only relates the action but also the big dog’s thoughts. Weaver may be a canine, but he can plot and plan, cause distractions and find clues just as well as the kids. The story is well planned, with enough clues to entertain both young readers and old alike. I received an electronic advanced copy of this book, but the review is voluntary. I can honestly say that this is one shaggy dog story which I recommend. I can’t wait to read more stories in this cute series.

How am I reviewing this book before it’s released, you may ask? Well, I’ve had a few variations of the book in my hands as I personally know the author. (You’re the best, Mom!)
That being said, I want to leave something above the typical ‘family 5-star review’. My mom has spent countless days and weeks pouring her soul into this book. She’s asked me hundreds of times to review it and see what she can improve. Watching the book evolve, along with her writing skills, has been the number 1 best part about this. This is definitely a book aimed for small children who love animals, have an active imagination, love history and enjoy group mysteries and resolutions.
Hopefully you and your children reading this end up loving the book!

I’m not the audience for this book, but that doesn’t mean you won’t be. This is only because it is meant for the aged six to nine (young 10) crowd, not my many decades. But the mystery and friendship elements are fun. Kids will enjoy this. With the addition of environmental issues, it has a classical and modern format. Things are set in the Everglades and surrounding area, so not a traditional location, but not unheard of. And (as I did not finish) at this time, nothing is over the top, or bad, or too scary, just a typical pre-teen mystery. It is just a nice, cozy read that isn’t wow the adult reader, but is perfect for kids. I was given an online reader copy for review and this has not affected my opinion other than, thank you for the opportunity and I look forward to reading more books from this publisher and even the creators of the book.

Sabotage at Casa Grande Springs is a good start on an early middle grade mystery. Unfortunately, there is quite a bit of editorial work still to be done from cutting unnecessary characters and tightening the plot to correcting typos and inconsistencies. I was given an Advanced Reader copy so hopefully some of these things will be corrected before publication.
