We are pleased to share that Iris and the Turtles by Melanie Mathis Miller and illustrated by Karissa Miller Laffey is a 2025 CBC Favorites Award winner!
It is a favorite in the 3-5th grade categories of 2025 CBC Children’s Favorites Winner, 2025 CBC Teacher Favorites Winner, and 2025 CBC Librarian Favorites Winner.

The Annual Children’s Favorites Awards are a flagship of the Children’s Book Council. Books are evaluated from submissions shipped to over 65 rural, suburban, and urban schools, school libraries, and public libraries in 36 states.

If you haven’t read Iris and the Turtles yet, it’s a beautifully illustrated rhyming story of a girl who loves to swim and enjoy the mystery of the sea turtles near her home. She even takes care of them in her own way.

Congratulations to Award Winners Melanie and Karissa!
